Wallawong Wins Grand Champion Carcase at Wingham Beef Week

Steer producing the Grand Champion Carcase 90.9 pts. Sire Wallawong Uncovered
Wallawong Murray Greys have confirmed their reputation for producing elite carcases scoring another big win taking out both Champion and Reserve Champion Unled Carcase and being awarded overall Grand Champion Carcase at 2016 Wingham Beef Week.
The Grand Champion carcase exhibited by Wallawong Murray Greys and David Schouten ‘Calala’ Gravesend was sired by Wallawong Uncovered, a bull purchased by Mr Schouten in 2012.
This award backs up their 2015 achievement where another steer by Wallawong Uncovered exhibited by Wallawong Murray Greys and D. Schouten produced the Champion Unled Carcase of 2015 Wingham Beef Week.
The purebred Murray Grey middle domestic carcase scored full points for fat specifications with 9mm on the rump and 7mm fat on the rib along with full points for Eye Muscle Area and 4.5 out of 5 points for fat distribution.
The carcase scored 90.9pts to be awarded the Champion Unled Carcase and Grand Champion Carcase overall.
The Reserve Champion Unled Carcase with a score of 89.657 was exhibited by Wallawong Murray Greys and Groveleigh partnership, Loomberah. Sired by Wallawong Ripsnorter, the carcase scored full points for fat specifications with 9mm on the rump and 6mm fat on the rib along with full points for Eye Muscle Area and 4 out of 5 points for fat distribution.
Wallawong Murray Grey stud principal Lachlan James was delighted with another win and other high placings achieved with Wallawong Murray Grey genetics after recently winning the 2016 Reserve Middleweight Carcase and 2015 Grand Champion Carcase at the Sydney Royal Easter Show Purebred Steer and Carcase Competition.
“It’s another great result that really shows the consistency of Wallawong genetics and quality of beef carcases that clients are producing.” Said Mr James.
A steer by Wallawong Target and bred by Heath Birchall, Duri, also placed second in the Export Carcase Class 8 with 88.210 points.
