Butts and Nuts Day Sunday 28 February

February 11, 2016

What an amazing year 2016 is shaping up to be in the beef industry! We have been blessed with some rain and we hope you all have too. The prices are rising and it is an excellent time to be a beef producer. We invite you to join us for a day to gain more insight into how best to ‘Meat the Market’ in 2016.

Murray Grey steer

Check out this purebred Murray Grey steer destined for Sydney Royal 2016

On Sunday 28 February from 10am we will host our Annual Steer and Carcase Workshop at Marriot Park incorporating live steer assessment and ultrasound carcase scanning by Roger Evans cattle destined for Sydney Royal Steer and Carcase competition. This year, in addition to carcase scanning, Geoff Steinbeck of Excel Genetics will discuss assessment of working bulls and also demonstrate physical examination and semen testing of bulls.
Our Sydney Royal team incorporates a range of Murray Grey steers from different clients plus a couple of home bred steers, all sired by Wallawong bulls. From this workshop you will gain a greater understanding of live animal and carcase assessment, learn more about the on farm factors most affecting compliance with market programs such as MSA and understand the difference between what you can do on farm to physically examine your bulls and semen testing by an artificial breeding technician or veterinarian.
Please RSVP for catering purposes by Wednesday 24 February.

In addition to a good day out viewing some excellent cattle and having your questions answered by experts in their field, you may also use this opportunity to view the two bulls and a cow and calf we are offering for sale at the 50th Anniversary Murray Grey National Show and Sale on April 18. Free freight is offered back to northern NSW so please consider how these lots pictured below might fit your breeding program.
Please let us know if you can come along to Marriot Park on Sunday 28th February from 10am. The Nuts and Butts day is no cost, and due to finish by 3pm with complimentary morning tea and BBQ lunch. Please email or call us anytime with any questions you may have about the day or to arrange inspection of lots being offered in the National. For a flier with program outline see below.
